Context
We partner with a startup active in the development and production of bio-based and biodegradable polymers. The company has built a strong reputation in its ability to engineer polymers to the required specifications in applications where today’s available biopolymers are unable to reach the required performance levels (PLA, PHA, PBAT,…). While the startup’s focus had been on developing their technology platform, the time had come to evolve towards commercialisation.
Involvement
We have been active in exploring the market for applications where the well-known biodegradable polymer solutions have proven not to be an option and where the market need is high enough to develop a custom solution.
During our market exploration, we have succeeded in finding and convincing multinationals to act as partners ready to invest resources in the co-development of unique solutions able to solve their unmet technological challenges. The applications range from technical textiles to packaging in the cosmetics industry.
